IND vs WI: India will take to the field after defeating West Indies in the fourth and fifth consecutive T20 Internationals to win the five-match series and finalize their squad for the T20 World Cup to be held later this year. In these matches to be held on Saturday and Sunday, the performance of Shreyas Iyer will also be looked at, for whom it is becoming difficult to make a place in the T20 World Cup squad.
Team India eyes on series win
India are currently leading 2-1 in the five-match series and would like to win the last two matches in front of the American audience. Shreyas Iyer is the one player on whom everyone’s eyes will be fixed in the current team of India. Deepak Hooda has made good use of the opportunities and in such a situation it is becoming difficult for Iyer to make a place in the middle order. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli are set to return to the team for the Asia Cup and in such a situation, Iyer may have to sit out. He has scored zero, 11 and 24 runs in three matches so far and he looks uncomfortable in front of the fast bowlers.
It will be difficult for Iyer
Ever since Rahul Dravid took over as coach, any player has got enough chances but in Iyer’s case, he has not been able to maintain good form in T20s like in ODIs. Dravid has given Iyer a chance in 9 T20 matches in the last two and a half months but despite getting a chance to play in the first 10 overs, he could not score a half-century even once. If Iyer gets a chance in the last two matches, he will have no option but to score big.
Eyes will be on Suryakumar again
Suryakumar Yadav, who surprised everyone with his best shot in the last match, can get the support of his captain Rohit Sharma in the top order this time. In the third match, Rohit had to leave the crease due to back pain. Then he was playing on 11 runs. But after three days’ rest he will be ready to play. While Rohit will also look at the performance of his batsmen, his eyes will also be on Rishabh Pant, who can entertain the audience with his shots.
Avesh also has the last chance
Avesh Khan did not bowl well in the last two matches but the team management has no option but to retain him as Harshal Patel is yet to fully recover from a rib injury. It will also be interesting to see whether Kuldeep Yadav gets to play matches in the series as India may go with an extra spinner if Harshal is not fully fit.
