Team India’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami’s performance against Pakistan in the first match of the T20 World Cup was not as expected. Shami was fiercely targeted on social media for conceding 43 runs in his 3.5 over spell and he was called good and bad. The Indian team has to take the field against New Zealand on the night of 31 October in their next match and in this match, Shami is all set to write the story of the team’s victory with his bowling. Shami is sweating profusely in the practice session as the Indian fast bowler has to win the team as well as lock the critics’ mouth in this crucial match.
Shami has shared a photo on his Twitter handle, in which he is seen with Jasprit Bumrah and young bowlers. Shami wrote, ‘Back to grind. Had a great training session and it was a pleasure interacting with the young talented cricketers. Looking forward to the next match against New Zealand. Shami would definitely like to prove himself by performing well against the Kiwi team. Team India will have to win against New Zealand at any cost to keep the hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive.
The Indian team has never been able to beat New Zealand in the Cricket World Cup till date. Both the teams have met twice in the T20 World Cup so far and the Kiwi team has won both the times. In such a situation, history will be created at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium to keep the hopes of Virat Kohli’s army being called T20 champions for the second time. In ICC events, India last defeated New Zealand in the year 2003.
