Strong performance of young team India
India defeated Derbyshire County team by 7 wickets in the T20 warm-up match on the basis of in-form Deepak Hooda’s brilliant half-century. Hooda, who scored the first T20 century of his career in the second T20 match against Ireland, scored 59 runs in 37 balls and shared a 78-run partnership with Suryakumar Yadav (36 not out) for the third wicket. India achieved the target of 151 runs with 20 balls to spare.
Hooda’s best performance
Hooda hit five fours and two sixes in his innings while Yadav, who was returning from injury, hit four fours and a six. Opener Sanju Samson scored 38 runs in 30 balls while skipper Dinesh Karthik remained unbeaten on seven.
Earlier, with the help of two wickets each from fast bowlers Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh, India bowled first and restricted Derbyshire to 150 for 8. Axar Patel and Venkatesh Iyer took a wicket each. Wayne Madsen scored the highest 28 runs for Derbyshire. The Indian team will play the second warm-up match against Northamptonshire on Sunday.
