New Delhi. The Asia Lions team, captained by Shahid Afridi, won the Legends League cricket title by defeating the World Giants. In the title match, Asia Lions defeated World Giants by 7 wickets. Chasing the target of 148 runs set by the World Giants, Asia Lions registered a win at the loss of 3 wickets in 16.1 overs. For the Asia Lions, former Sri Lankan openers Upul Tharanga and Tillakaratne Dilshan played an important role in the team’s victory by sharing a 115-run partnership. Former Bangladesh spinner Abdur Razzaq, playing for Asia Lions, was adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling.

Earlier, Shane Watson, the captain of the World Giants team won the toss and decided to bat first. World Giants scored 147 for 4 in 20 overs thanks to former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis’ 78 and Ross Taylor’s 32. Opener Lendl Simmons was run out after scoring 17 runs. Captain Shane Watson could not even open the account. For Asia Lions, Abdur Razzaq took 2 wickets for 14 runs in 4 overs.

Brett Lee, Monty Panesar and Samit Patel took one wicket each from World Giants.

Father-in-law’s team became champion after son-in-law
After son-in-law, father-in-law also made his team champion. A day earlier Shahid Afridi’s son-in-law Shaheen Afridi had made Lahore Qalandars the Pakistan Super League champions under his captaincy. Now the father-in-law i.e. Shahid Afridi has won accolades by leading the Asia Lions to the Legends League Cricket Masters title. The pair of father-in-law and son-in-law has created panic on the cricket field by winning the title.
