Ireland’s batsman named ICC Player of the Month

New Delhi. Ireland’s young batsman Harry Tector has created history. He has been selected as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for the month of May. He is the first cricketer from Ireland to receive this honour. Harry has achieved this award leaving behind Pakistan captain Babar Azam and Bangladesh’s young batsman Najmul Hussain Shanto.

Let us tell you that on India’s tour of Ireland last year, Tector played a stormy inning of 64 runs in 33 balls in T20 against Team India. Harry also hit sixes in this match. After this Indian captain Hardik Pandya gifted him the bat.

The 23-year-old Harry Tector batted explosively in the ODI series against Bangladesh last month and proved that he is Ireland’s future star. He scored a career-best 140 off 113 balls in the second ODI against Bangladesh. Harry hit 7 fours and 10 sixes during this innings. His innings was special in the sense that Tector came out to bat when Ireland lost 2 wickets for 16 runs in 7 overs. In this match, Tector, along with George Dockrell (74*) not out, took Ireland to a score of 319 runs in 45 overs. However, in this match, Bangladesh’s Najmul Hussain Shanto’s innings of 117 runs in 93 balls gave victory to Bangladesh.

After this, Harry Tector played an inning of 45 runs in the third ODI as well. Tector said about this award, “I am very happy to win the Player of the Month Award and want to thank those who voted for me. Cricket is a team game anyway. So for me this award shows the progress of the whole Ireland team.
