The security in-charge of Wankhede Stadium died before the DC vs RCB match, know what is the whole matter

Mumbai. On Saturday, for the first time in the history of Wankhede Cricket Stadium in 11 years, Abdul Baig was not seen at the Polly Umrigar and Vinoo Mankad gates of the ground. Baig, 69, died of a heart attack at his residence on Friday. He died when he was about to leave for the MCA office to oversee the security arrangements on the eve of Saturday’s match between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Abdul Baig was the security in-charge of the Wankhede Stadium for 11 years.

The death of retired ACP of Mumbai Police, Abdul Baig has shook the management of Mumbai Cricket Association. According to MCA Executive Secretary CS Naik while talking to Mid Day, this is absolutely shocking. We had met a day earlier. I can’t believe that Abdul Baig is no more with us.

Was in charge of security since 2011

CS Naik further said, I have known him from the 2011 Cricket World Cup. He was the security in-charge of the Wankhede Stadium since then. He was a man of personality. I used to call him Mount Abu often. Because of which he was very tall and Abu was his first name. He further said, whenever there is an international or IPL match at Wankhede, he will always be remembered. I will always remember him as my friend and well wisher. He was very honest and hardworking. While in charge of him, I never worried about the security arrangements.

Abdul Baig was the best man

MCA treasurer Jagdish Achrekar has also received a setback due to the sudden death of Abdul Baig. He was a wonderful person, he said. Despite assuming a huge responsibility for the security arrangements at the Wankhede Stadium, he was cheerful. He was the link between the private security of the MCA and the police. MCA has lost a man who worked with great passion.
