Changes will begin in the Indian team after the WTC FINAL defeat
West Indies tour will see change, 3 to 4 youngsters will get chance in T20
New Delhi. Team India’s dream of winning the World Test Championship could not be fulfilled. Australia defeated India by a huge margin of 209 runs in the final played at The Oval. This is India’s fourth consecutive defeat in the knockout matches of the ICC tournament. Now the next mission of Team India is the ODI World Cup to be held this year and after that the T20 World Cup is to be held in 2024. This one defeat must have forced the selectors and the functionaries of Indian cricket to think about making a new team. This time work has already started in T20 format. Making Hardik Pandya the captain of the T20 team in place of Rohit is the first major step taken in this direction.
India was eliminated from the Super-12 round in the 2021 T20 World Cup and in the tournament held in Australia last year, India was knocked out in the semi-finals. Then England defeated by 10 wickets. Only after this, the selectors took a big decision and made Hardik Pandya the captain of T20. At the same time, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were sidelined from this format.
The BCCI did not formally declare Pandya as the captain of the T20 team. But, it has become clear that there is no place for senior players like Rohit-Virat in Pandya’s T20 team and the Indian team will enter the next T20 World Cup under Pandya’s captaincy.
Rinku, Jitesh may get a chance in T20 team
According to news agency PTI, players like Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma, who performed well in IPL 2023, can now get a place in Indian T20. India has to go on West Indies tour in July. 5 T20s are to be played on this tour. In such a situation, apart from Jitesh, Rinku, players like Yashasvi Jaiswal can get a place in the Indian team.
Shami-Siraj can be rested
Rinku Singh played the role of match finisher for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2023. He scored 474 runs at a strike rate of 150. Jitesh Sharma also batted in IPL for Punjab Kings in a similar fashion. This wicket-keeper batsman scored 309 runs at a strike rate of 156. Rituraj Gaikwad has already made T20 debut for India. At the same time, changes can also be seen in fast bowling. Looking at the workload of Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, they can be rested from the upcoming West Indies series. Mukesh Kumar can be given a chance.
Team India will play 3 ODIs and five T20s in addition to the 2 Test series on the West Indies tour. The test series will start from 12 July. At the same time, the second Test will be played from 20 July. After this the ODI series will be played from 27 July to 1 August.
