Media rights auction will be held on the coming Sunday for the next 5 seasons of IPL i.e. from 2023 to 2027. In the year 2017, Star India bought the rights of IPL. At that time, Star India had bought these rights for $2.55 billion. Then it was the world’s most expensive cricket deal.

Bidding will be done through e-auction

This time IPL The bidding of rights will be done through e-auction for the first time. It will start at 11 am on Sunday in Mumbai and will continue till all the bids are over. The purchased rights will be valid for 5 seasons of IPL. Brokerage firm Elara Securities believes that this time the bid for the media rights of IPL can range from Rs 50 to 60 thousand crores.

4 packages for rights

There are 4 packages available for IPL rights. In Package A, broadcasting rights will be given on TV only for the Indian subcontinent. Package B will be given digital rights for broadcast in the Indian subcontinent only. In package C, rights will be given for limited matches such as those that will be broadcast only in the Indian subcontinent. Whereas in Packed D, rights will be given for TV and digital telecast for broadcast in the rest of the world.
