This form will not have to be shown to fill petrol and diesel in Delhi!

About two weeks ago, Delhi’s environment minister announced that it would be mandatory for vehicle owners in the capital to show a valid pollution under control certificate (PUC) to get petrol or diesel filled. If a person does not have the PUC, he/she will not be allowed to fill fuel at the fuel pump in Delhi. However, the government has now withdrawn this mandate.

On Friday, October 21, Environment Minister Gopav Rai announced that it would be legal to fill petrol or diesel in the city from October 25. Compulsory to have PUC Will not done. He also informed that the decision has been withdrawn after the representatives of petrol and diesel unions advised the government. Unions say that this order can lead to chaos.

Rai said at the press conference, “Representatives of petroleum and diesel associations have given us several suggestions regarding law and order. We will discuss them with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.”

The mandate was a part of the Delhi government’s 15-point action plan to control pollution in the capital. Rai says that apart from dust and biomass burning, vehicular pollution is also a major factor in the deteriorating air quality. According to experts, pollution levels are expected to increase significantly after Diwali and depending on the wind direction.

To stop this pollution, another step is being taken by the state government, which will be implemented from 28 October. From this day Delhi Government’s ‘Red Light on Gaadi Off’ campaign will start. This campaign has already been started from time to time. In this campaign volunteers patrol major intersections in the city and encourage people to switch off their engine when stopped at a red light.
