New Delhi: The T20 World Cup 2021 will start in the UAE from October 17. In the T20 World Cup, India has to play its first match against Pakistan on 24 October. Even before this, news of the injury of leg-spinner Varun Chakraborty, who was selected in the T20 World Cup, is coming to the fore. A BCCI source clarified that Varun Chakraborty’s knees are not in good condition, he suffers from pain. According to ICC rules, India still has a chance to make changes in the T20 World Cup squad till October 10. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will have a chance to join the T20 World Cup squad if Varun Chakraborty is ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to injury.

A BCCI source said, “Varun’s knees are not in very good condition, he hurts, but if it was not for the T20 World Cup, the Indian team management would not take the risk of feeding him.” At present the focus is on relieving him of the pain for the T20 World Cup, after that rehab will be considered. Varun Chakraborty has so far taken 15 wickets in 13 matches at an economy of 6.73 in the current season of IPL.

Hardik Pandya, who is struggling with fitness, was said to be included in the World T20 squad that he would bowl the full four overs, but in the current phase of the IPA, he did not play only the first two matches due to fitness. Not only this, he is not even bowling. There is also talk of including Shardul Thakur, who joined the team as a reserve player in place of Hardik, in the main team.
