This veteran told the biggest weakness of Rajasthan Royals, said- need for change in playing XI

Dubai: Former Indian cricketer Saba Qarib has expressed disappointment over the Rajasthan Royals’ team selection and said that the team needs at least one better spinner in the playing XI. Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson blamed the batsmen and bowlers after losing the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Saba has blamed the team’s dismal performance on the team selection. He said, ‘He made some strange selections. I don’t understand why they took Rahul Tewatia and Mahipal Lomror as the fifth bowler.

Lomror and Teotia fail to apply pressure

Saba told, ‘Both players can only work as the sixth bowler. His whole strategy has been to play four fast bowlers which is not going right for him. Saba believes that Lomror and Tewatia failed to put pressure on the opposition team and conceded many runs against Hyderabad. Together, both the players conceded 54 runs in six overs. Saba said, ‘You need a better spinner because you can’t always depend on your fast bowlers. They can do better in the powerplay and death overs, but you need a good spinner for the middle overs.

Big players are unable to score runs

Saba said, ‘There was a lot of surprise from the Rajasthan side. I expected them to try to make it to the playoffs. However, Samson scored but the last three overs made a big difference. Hyderabad came back in the last three overs and conceded just 18 runs. It did a lot of damage to Rajasthan. Saba said, ‘Rajasthan will now not only have to play in their own rhythm but will have to perform at an even higher level. I think some of their big players are not able to score runs due to which they have to struggle. He said, ‘I feel bad for Rajasthan because their team does not include players like Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer.’
