‘Today I was a spectator…’ KL Rahul praised something like seeing de Kock’s best innings of T20 career


New Delhi. Lucknow Super Giants defeated two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders by 2 runs in a thrilling match to make it to the playoffs of IPL 2022. The Super Giants team, captained by KL Rahul, has 18 points in 14 matches. In this victory, South African wicket-keeper opener Quinton de Kock scored an unbeaten 140 off 70 balls while playing the best innings of T20 career. KL Rahul returned unbeaten after playing an innings of 68 runs off 51 balls. Seeing de Kock’s beautiful innings, KL Rahul said that he was standing like a spectator at the non-strike end.

De Kock played a blazing innings after getting the lifeline three times. This South African wicket-keeper batsman hit 10 sixes and as many fours in his century. Rahul hit three fours and four sixes in 51 balls. Batting first, Lucknow scored a huge score of 210 runs without any loss. In reply, KKR scored 208 runs for 8 wickets. Captain Shreyas Iyer (50 off 29 balls, four fours, three sixes), Nitish Rana (42 off 22 balls, nine fours) and Sam Billings scored 36 runs.

After the victory, KL Rahul said, ‘Our batting was good. The more praise for Quinton’s innings, is less. In a few overs I was just a spectator today. I think it was probably one of the best innings I have seen so far. Mohsin bowled well. He has been doing well in the last few matches. From this match you get to learn that the pass of the match can turn towards you till the last ball.

Rinku Singh scored 40 runs

Rinku Singh made a quick 40 and Sunil Narine scored an unbeaten 21 off seven balls to take KKR close to victory in the last moments. When KKR needed three runs from two balls, Stoinis (3 for 23 in two overs) with the help of a superb catch from Evin Lewis, dismissed Rinku and then Umesh Yadav to turn the game towards the Super Giants. Mohsin Khan also took three wickets for 20 runs. This was the eighth defeat of KKR in 14 matches, due to which they were also ruled out of the tournament.

According to Rahul, ‘This season we have lost many matches like this. I know how you feel after losing matches like this. It was a great match. The credit for this goes to the players of both the teams. The way Stoinis bowled according to plan on the last two balls and got the victory, it was fantastic.

De Kock and Rahul made the biggest partnership for the first wicket in IPL

De Kock and Rahul shared the highest and third highest overall partnership for the first wicket in IPL. This is the first time in IPL that a team batting first has not lost any wicket in the entire 20 overs.
