Mumbai. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is struggling to find the right opening combination in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). But New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee said that it is not ideal to make changes by throwing players out in doing so. KKR have used four different opening pairs in this phase. But the team did not get any benefit from it, as the team suffered its fifth consecutive defeat on Thursday, leaving it seventh in the points table.
Saudi said in a press conference after the four-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals, “It’s difficult when you can’t get the number of wins you want to win. After the big auction we are still trying to find our perfect combination. We have used some combinations for the opening pair and there are no bad players in IPL, they are all great players. The players who opened the innings were also excellent players. So it’s just a matter of getting the form and playing with the form you get.”
Saudi said, “It is not an ideal situation to drop players and get someone else in their place. But this happens when you are not winning many matches.
KKR trying out different batting combinations
Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer have opened the innings in the first five matches, but they have failed KKR have used three different batting combinations in the last four matches. It included Sunil Narine, Aaron Finch and Sam Billings.
