New Delhi. The third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia will be played in Indore from March 1. David Warner will not play in this test due to injury. In his absence, Travis Head will start the innings with his new partner Usman Khawaja. Head also opened in the second innings of the Delhi Test due to Warner’s injury and scored the maximum of 43 runs. Due to this innings, he is expected to perform better in the Indore Test.

Travis Head said before the Indore Test that he would take an aggressive stand against Indian spin bowlers like Ravichandnan Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja and would play shots against them when given the opportunity. Australia had to face defeat within 3 days in the second Test in Delhi and the team stayed here after the match ended on Sunday. However, Head did not get a chance to play in the Nagpur Test.

I didn’t expect to sit out: Head
When asked about not getting a place in the playing-XI in the Nagpur Test against India, Head said, “It was something that I did not expect after coming here. There has been a lot of discussion about this. Everyone’s opinion is different on this. I respect the coaching staff and selectors. I have a very strong bond with him.”

Head further said that the day after the start of the match, I told myself that I am still on tour and playing for Australia. I am still doing what I love. I love to compete and play. But there is another way in which I can support the players and prepare better for my chance. It was just a week that didn’t go my way.

Opening the innings for the first time in a Test match, Head batted aggressively and put the Indian spinners under pressure on the second day of the match. After his dismissal on the very first ball after the start of the third day’s play, India tightened the screws on the match. Australia had lost 9 wickets within 52 runs.

‘I had shown the trailer in Delhi Test’
Head said that his 43 in the second innings at the Kotla gave him a lot of confidence. He said, “He is a very skilful bowler, but I was really happy with the way he was going back and forth using his feet. It was a small glimpse but sometimes small samples are very encouraging.

Australia’s team is 0-2 behind in the four-Test series and Head also admitted that his team will have to work hard to return to the series. He said that our team is very strong and united. There will be times during the match when our position is not strong but it has to be dealt with. Situations will not happen as you wish.
