Another bad news related to ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2022 is coming out. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has canceled matches of two plate groups, because a team does not have enough players to field. This is because more than half the players of the team have been found to be corona infected. In the ICC u19 Cricket World Cup, 9 players of Canada’s team have been found positive in the Kovid 19 test and now the team does not have 11 fit and covid free players, who can play the match on 29 January.

9 players of Canada’s team will now remain in Isolation. The medical team of the event will supervise them. At the same time, due to these circumstances, the journey of the Canadian team has ended from the tournament. Canada’s Plate playoff semi-final match against Scotland was to be held on 29 January, but this match will no longer take place and according to the rules, Scotland will play in the 13th/14th playoff, as the team had a better net run rate. Apart from this, the 15th/16th playoff match also had to be cancelled, in which Canada had to play either Uganda or Papua New Guinea.

Chris Tetley, ICC’s Head of Events, said, “We are deeply disappointed to see the cancellation of two ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup matches at this stage of the event due to COVID-19. Were expecting to see some COVID positive cases and till date these have been managed according to our biosafety plan without affecting the fixtures. However with so many players from the Canadian team testing COVID19 positive, organizing these matches The players are now in self-isolation and will receive full support from the event medical team under the guidance of the Bio-Safety Advisory Group.”
