Indian Premier League 2022 Umran Malik: Sunrisers Hyderabad fast bowler Umran Malik has impressed a lot with his bowling so far in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The team’s bowling coach Dale Steyn is constantly praising his bowling. Team head coach Tom Moody said that the team management wanted this young fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir to express himself freely.
The 22-year-old from Srinagar has consistently bowled at 145 to 150 kmph in this Indian Premier League (IPL). He bowled the fastest delivery in IPL history at 153.1 kmph against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, but he has amassed a lot of runs during this period. He has taken five wickets for 173 runs in five matches.
Moody’s isn’t worried about it, though. He said, ‘After all, when you bowl at 150 kmph in this format, you cannot expect that you will not score runs. He gives a lot of runs behind the wicket. But it is not like he is being smashed on the ground or on the cover.
“So you have to accept his style of bowling,” the coach said after their seven-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday. His role is to express himself by running and bowling his style. “We accept that the way he bowls, he will score runs but we want to see him take wickets,” he said.
