NCA prepares for the series against Sri Lanka
Have worked on variation in bowling with speed
new Delhi. Team India’s speed star Umran Malik reached the National Cricket Academy (NCA) as soon as he returned from Bangladesh. There he sweated profusely for 7 days to bring more sharpness in bowling. During practice with white and red ball, Umran worked on length and slower delivery along with adding more speed to the balls. He will be seen in action in the T20 and ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Umran Malik told that now his effort is to bring variation in bowling with speed. For this, while maintaining his bowling action, he is working on 2 to 3 types of slower deliveries. On the question of practice with red ball, Umran said, right now my entire focus is on white ball format. However, this season I had to play one Ranji match, so practice was necessary. Talking to News24, the fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir said that he will try to take maximum wickets in the series against Sri Lanka.
‘Dream wicket to take in IPL’
Umran said that in IPL 2023 he wants to dismiss Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. If this happens then one of his big wishes will be fulfilled. Apart from this, it is also his dream to become the man of the series in the ODI World Cup. Umran made his T20 debut against Ireland this year. On the tour of New Zealand, he was included in the team for the first time in Auckland ODI. In this match, Umran took two important wickets for 66 runs in 10 overs.
‘…to break Shoaib Akhtar’s record’
Playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2022, Umran Malik made everyone his fan by throwing the ball at a speed of 156.9 kmph. This was the fastest ball of IPL 2022. After this, he was compared to Shoaib Akhtar. Regarding the record of the former Pakistan fast bowler, Umran said that for this it is necessary to keep playing continuously. If I succeed in doing this, then one day I will definitely go ahead of Shoaib Akhtar. Please tell that in the year 2002, Shoaib made a record against New Zealand by throwing the ball at a speed of 161.3 kph. Akhtar has recorded the record of the world’s top five fastest ball.
