Sri Lanka defeated Australia in the second and final Test. After this, he has reached the third place in the points table of the World Test Championship (WTC). Apart from this, Australia’s team has slipped from the first place in the points table after losing the second Test. Sri Lanka currently have 54.17 per cent points in the points table. If he wants to reach the finals, he will have to collect more points. His team has to play four more Test matches in this WTC cycle.
On home soil, he will play a two-Test series against Pakistan which starts on July 16. If he wants to be a strong contender to reach the final, he will have to beat Pakistan 2-0. Apart from this, he also has to play two matches with New Zealand. They have to win at least one Test there. After this he will have 61.11 percent marks.
India was the runner-up in the last World Test Championship. However, he is currently at the fifth position in the points table. He has to play two further Tests with Bangladesh and four Tests against Australia. If he wins all the Tests, then his score will be 68.05 percent. If this happens, he can reach the final. If they lose even one of these six Tests, then their score will be 62.05 percent. After that they will have to depend on the result to other teams.
South Africa is at the top of the points table with 71.43 per cent points and Australia is second with 70 points. After losing the second Test, Australia may have moved up to second place but they are still in a strong position in the points table. If he wins the remaining five Test matches on home soil, he will end the WTC cycle with 65% points. It doesn’t matter whether he wins or loses four Test matches in India. He will have only 65% marks. If he loses even a single match on home soil, he has to win at least one Test in India. Only then will he be able to maintain the 65 percent mark.
Sri Lanka need a 2-0 win to stay in the race for the final. Pakistan is currently at the fourth position in the points table. If they win that series 2-0, their points percentage will increase to 62.96. They would then have to win three and draw two of their five home Tests. Then his team will be able to get more than 65 percent marks. If they draw 1–1 against Sri Lanka, they will have to win four home Tests, while losing 0–2 will have to win all matches on home soil.
The series for South Africa starting on 17th August is a big series for The Table Toppers. After that his team has to play Test series in Australia as well. If they win the series 2-1, they will have 70 per cent points, which means they can go up to 64 per cent points even if they lose the series 1-2 in Australia.
