Neeraj started the final with a foul throw, then made a strong comeback
The Olympic champion has won the silver medal in the javelin throw at 88.13m.
New Delhi. Neeraj Chopra first created history in the Tokyo Olympics and now in the World Athletics Championship. He won the silver medal in the Javelin Throw event of this championship going on in Eugene, America. Neeraj was almost out of medal race till his third attempt in the final. But, the Olympic champion and crores of Indians knew that the game was not over yet. Neeraj proved this to be true by throwing the javelin at a distance of 88.13 meters in his fourth attempt. His fifth and sixth were both throw fouls. This is the first time in the 39-year history of the World Championship, when an Indian athlete has won a silver medal.
The video of this throw of Neeraj is going viral, in which he threw the javelin more than 88 meters away. It was only after this throw that Neeraj was sure that his medal was confirmed. Looking at his video, one can get an idea of this. Olympic champion Neeraj tried hard to leave behind world champion Anderson Peters in the final. But he failed to do so. Peters of Grenada threw the javelin three times in the final for a distance of more than 90 meters and he was successful in winning the gold.
