The Indian team had also defeated ODI World Champion Australia, including host South Africa, in traveling to the final. In the title match, Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first. India scored 157 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Gautam Gambhir scored 75 runs for India.

Misbah-ul-Haq devoured Joginder Sharma’s ball
Chasing the target of 158 runs, the Pakistan team lost the wicket of Mohammad Hafeez in the first over itself. At one point, Pakistan had lost their seven wickets for 104 runs. This catch of Misbah was caught by Sreesanth near the boundary and the Indian team became the world champion by defeating Pakistan by 5 runs.
