Virat Kohli has completed 72 International Centuries.
Sachin Tendulkar has scored 49 centuries in ODI cricket.
new Delhi. 2022 proved to be very good for Virat Kohli. For the last three years, Kohli was seen struggling for a century. But in 2022, he ended the century drought. During the Asia Cup, Virat not only scored his 71st international century but also scored his first century in T20 format. After that he ended his century drought in ODIs as well and scored his 72nd century.
Kohli is the only batsman in the world who is fast approaching the record of former Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar. Master Blaster scored 100 centuries in his international career. At present, none of the players playing is seen anywhere near Kohli. At the same time, there is also a record of Sachin in 2023 which can come in the name of run machine. Sachin has scored 49 centuries in ODI cricket while Kohli has scored 44 centuries in ODI cricket. Team India’s former batting coach Sanjay Bangar has also talked about this record. He believes that Virat can reach around this record in 2023.
Virat has come forward very fast – Sanjay Bangar
The batting coach said about Virat, ‘Virat has done this at a great pace in his career. Reaching 44 centuries in ODI cricket at such a young age is a great achievement. But I think whether he can do it this year. How many games do India have this year, maybe 26 or 27. If India were to reach the final, there is obviously a real possibility that Virat could touch that milestone.
‘Virat will have to give full force’
Sanjay Bangar further said, ‘Virat will have to bat with all his might. If a player is playing all formats then he has to take regular breaks. According to me, the breaks will now be in T20 format, not so much in 50 over format. I don’t think he will be able to touch this record but he will definitely be very close to it.
