Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is performing consistently in the second half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. In the 14th season of IPL, Chahal has so far taken nine wickets in 10 matches at an average of 27.77. He had also taken three wickets for 11 runs against Mumbai Indians in the last match and played a key role in Bangalore’s victory. Chahal is the only bowler who has taken wickets in all the matches for Bangalore so far. Despite this impressive performance, Chahal has not been selected in the Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, former Indian team opener Virender Sehwag has raised questions regarding the team selection. Sehwag expressed surprise over Chahal being not selected in the T20 World Cup squad.
Virender Sehwag said Yuzvendra Chahal was bowling well in the past also. Can’t understand why he was omitted from the T20 World Cup squad. The selectors should provide the explanation. The way Chahal is bowling, he will be an asset for any side in T20 cricket. (On Cricbuzz).

Sehwag said that Chahal is an asset of India’s T20 team and the selectors should explain the reason for him not being included in the T20 World Cup squad. Sehwag told Cricbuzz, ‘Chahal was bowling well even earlier. I don’t understand why then he didn’t get a place in the Indian team. Not that Rahul Chahar bowled very well during the Sri Lanka tour. The way Chahal is bowling, he can become the biggest force of any team in T20 cricket. He knows how to bowl in this format and how to take wickets. Team India selectors should explain why they did not give this leg-spinner a chance in the T20 World Cup team.

The senior selection committee headed by Chetan Sharma has included mystery spinners Varun Chakraborty and Rahul Chahar in the T20 World Cup squad. Apart from him, Ravichandran Ashwin has also been kept in the team. Ashwin played his last match with white ball cricket in 2017.
