Inzamam had good relations with Indian players
Sehwag told the story of 2005 Test
Sachin Tendulkar was also present in the show
New Delhi. Virender Sehwag, the former explosive opener of the Indian cricket team, is not called the Sultan of Multan. The opening pair of Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar is one of the best opening pairs in the world. When both the veteran batsmen used to come to the crease, the bowlers were seen trembling. Pakistan’s captain Inzamam ul Haq had a cordial relationship with Indian cricketers. Sehwag and Sachin narrated an interesting anecdote related to Inzamam in an interview.
Sehwag and Sachin came as guests on Vikram Sathe’s show. In this show, Sehwag said, ‘I remember well that we were playing a Test match against Pakistan in 2005 in Bengaluru. I scored 201 runs in the first innings. When I was batting, Inzamam was fielding in the slips. I was continuously hitting Danish Kaneria’s ball well. After some time I asked Engineer Bhai to call Long On ahead. On this he said why? I said that I have to hit a six.
According to Sehwag, Inzamam called the long on fielder forward on the next ball. According to Sehwag, ‘After this Danish Kaneria threw the ball on my pad, and I sent the ball across the boundary for a six.’ After this Kaneria asked Inzamam why did you do this? Inzamam laughed at this and said that he was called ahead for just one ball. However, later Engi said that he has a brotherly relationship with Sehwag.
Inzamam is counted among the most successful captains of Pakistan. Sehwag and Sachin praised Inzamam fiercely and called him a great player and human being. Inzamam was known as a calm player. Standing in the crease, he used to show the ball to the boundary.
