Virender Sehwag has scored two triple centuries in Test cricket.
There is a very interesting story related to one of his triple centuries.
New Delhi. Virender Sehwag was known for his fiery batting. The day when he was in his rhythm, the fate of the opposing bowlers was decided. Sehwag often used to hum songs while batting. He has said this many times in interviews. However, once this hobby of humming a song had become a disaster for him. He might have missed creating history in the course of a single song. It should be good for the 12th player, who came forward to help him and Sehwag’s name got recorded in the pages of history. Sehwag himself shared an interesting anecdote related to this in a program.
Virender Sehwag told about this story related to his history making in a program of Singer Sonu Nigam, “I was batting in a Test match for South Africa in Chennai. Rahul Dravid was at the other end. I had probably scored 200 runs. I have been humming a song for a long time. Fours and sixes were easily hit. Meanwhile the drinks break happened. During this we started talking.
A song increased Sehwag’s tension
Sehwag further said, “When I started batting again after the break, I forgot the lyrics of the song I was humming. 2-3 overs passed like this. I could not hit the boundary. Rahul Dravid came to me, he asked me if everything is fine, isn’t it? Then I asked him why what happened, he said no, it was too late and you didn’t hit any four or six, so I thought what happened?
Sehwag returned to old color as soon as he came to know the lyrics of the song
Sehwag said, “I was thinking what to tell him that I forgot the lyrics of the song, so I was not enjoying batting. After a while I called the 12th player, told him to open my iPod’s playlist named Veeru-2, there is a sixth song in it. Tell me his words. As soon as the 12th player told him the lyrics of the song, Veeru reverted to his old self.

Sehwag hit second triple century
Sonu Nigam then asked Virender Sehwag to sing the same song. After this, Sehwag started reciting the song, ‘Chala jaata hoon kisi ki dhun mein…’ Sehwag had scored 319 runs in that test against South Africa. This was the second triple century of his Test career. If the 12th player had not told Sehwag the lyrics of the song that day, Viru might have missed out on creating history.
