Former India opener Virender Sehwag did not look overly happy with the Sunrisers Hyderabad batsmen’s performance in the IPL 2022 match against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday. Chasing a huge target of 211 runs for victory, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s team had lost three wickets in the 5th over itself.
The Rajasthan Royals bowlers did not allow the Hyderabad batsmen to score runs and kept them under pressure. Hyderabad team could only score 14 runs in the powerplay. He recorded the joint-lowest Powerplay score in IPL history, equaling Rajasthan Royals’ score of 14/2 in the 2009 season. The next three low scores belong to CSK in the 2011, 2015 and 2019 seasons respectively.
Taking a jibe at the SRH batsmen, Sehwag said, “Bhai ye toh test match batting challi hai in IPL”, posting a meme from Munnabhai MBBS.
Rajasthan Royals made a stellar start to their campaign in the 15th season of the Indian Premier League by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 61 runs.
Rajasthan dwarfed Sunrisers in every department of the game. Captain Sanju Samson led from the front with a 27-ball 55 as Rajasthan Royals posted 210 for six. In reply, Sunrisers had three batsmen for nine runs and four batsmen had returned to the pavilion for 29 runs. Kane Williamson (2)’s team could only manage 149 runs for seven wickets.
For that, Aiden Markram scored an unbeaten 57 and Washington Sundar scored 40 runs in 14 balls. Devdutt Padikkal took a brilliant catch from Williamson while Rahul Tripathi became the second victim of the famous Krishna without opening the account. Trent Boult then dismissed Nicholas Pooran (0) leg before.
Yuzvendra Chahal took the wickets of Abhishek Sharma and Abdul Samad to worsen the condition of Sunrisers. After that there was no chance for the team to return.
