Gill has made this record at the age of 23 years and 132 days. After the match, Gill told when he got the hope of scoring a double century and who is one of his best friends in Team India.

Right-handed batter Gill said that I was eagerly waiting to get on the field and do what I wanted to do.
‘I wanted to play freely’
Gill said about his strategy, ‘With the fall of wickets, there were times I wanted to play freely and I am glad that I could do it in the end. Sometimes when the bowler is on top, you need to make him feel the pressure. I needed to avoid the dot balls, show some intent and work hard in the gaps which I was doing. I wasn’t really thinking of 200, but once I hit sixes in the 47th over, I knew I could do it. Earlier, I was playing by looking at the ball.
‘Ishaan Kishan is one of the best friends’
With this victory, the Indian team has taken a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series. According to Gill, ‘He (Kishan) is one of my best friends. It feels good when something you want to do happens on a regular basis. Gill took 19 innings to complete 1000 runs in ODIs, which is the joint second fastest with Pakistan’s Imam-ul-Haq. Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman is on top by scoring the fastest 1000 runs in 18 innings. During this, Shubman Gill also destroyed the records of Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan.
