New Delhi. Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan was arrested by paramilitary forces on Tuesday when he was present in the Islamabad High Court for a hearing in a corruption case. Imran Khan’s arrest was followed by massive protests across Pakistan by his supporters who stormed the army headquarters in Rawalpindi and the corps commander’s residence in Lahore. After arresting Imran Khan, Pakistan Rangers took him from there in a van. After this, Imran Khan’s supporters attacked the army headquarters in Rawalpindi and the corps commander’s residence in Lahore. Meanwhile, two former veteran cricketers of Pakistan have tweeted in support of Imran Khan.
A day before his arrest, 70-year-old Imran Khan had accused the country’s army of allegedly conspiring to assassinate him. Imran Khan is facing corruption charges under section 9(a) of the Khan National Accountability Ordinance, 1999. After the arrest of Imran, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, who played under his captaincy, have tweeted in support of the former captain.
Wasim Akram tweeted for Imran Khan and wrote, ‘You are a person, but you have the power of millions. Stay strong Captain.
At the same time, Waqar Younis supported Imran Khan on Twitter and wrote, ‘Injustice creates freedom in the end. More strength to you Imran Khan. Let’s protect our leader and freedom.
