Said, World Cup trophy can come to Pakistan for the second time
Players stay fit, if they play according to the plan, then there are good chances of becoming champions.
New Delhi. Former Pakistan captain and great fast bowler Wasim Akram believes that his country’s team has the potential to make it to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup to be held later this year. Akram, a left-arm bowler, was a key member of the famous Pakistan cricket team captained by Imran Khan, which became the champion in the 1992 World Cup held in Australia-New Zealand. This veteran cricketer believes that if the key players of the team remain fit and in form, then the World Cup trophy can come to Pakistan for the second time at the end of this year.
The reins of the Pakistani team are currently in the hands of number one ODI batsman Babar Azam and the team has a good mix of young and experienced players. Apart from Babar, the team has good batsmen like Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman, while the bowling trio of Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah will play an important role.
Talking to the ICC, Akram said, our ODI team is very good and one of the great players of today’s time, Babar is leading it. If he stays fit and plays according to the plan, then he has good chances of becoming the winner because the World Cup is being organized in India in conditions like ours. Talking about Babar, he is currently in excellent form and has scored 8 of his 18 ODI centuries after the 2019 World Cup.
Murid Akram of Babar’s batting said, he is the main player of Pakistan and will get better with time. The former Pakistani player said, ‘Whatever he (Babar) does, the whole country follows him. Be it T20, ODI or Test cricket, cricket lovers reach the stadium to see him, he puts the best cover drives.
