New Delhi. Former Indian cricket team opener Wasim Jaffer has expressed concern about Shreyas Iyer’s batting. He says that Shreyas will have to improve his game against the fast bowlers. In order to ensure that he is successful in the long run. In the first T20 match against South Africa, Shreyas Iyer scored 37 runs in 27 balls which included 4 fours and 3 sixes. But during this he was seen struggling against the fast bowlers. He was dismissed by fast bowler Dwayne Pretorius.
Talking to ESPNcricinfo, Wasim Jaffer said, ‘You know when Shreyas gets stuck, he walks around on the wicket. He wants to go out and reach the off side. During this you will not see him hitting many boundaries against fast bowlers. Looking to the future, Shreyas will have to develop some such shots so that he can dominate the fast bowlers. He is batting in top-4. They are not the ones who come on the backend. So they have to improve their game. Especially for hitting boundaries against fast bowlers. His innings could have been better. If he hits some more boundaries.
This is not the first time that Shreyas Iyer has faced difficulties against fast bowlers. In IPL 2022 too, there was a big difference in his strike rate against spin and fast bowlers. This right-handed batsman had a strike rate of 150 against spinners in IPL 2022. Whereas against the fast bowlers it was 130. This shows that there is a lot of room for improvement for Shreyas against the fast bowlers.
