Wasim Jaffer picks his India playing XI in the first T20I: The first match of the 5 T20 match series between India and South Africa is to be played today i.e. on June 9 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer has announced his playing XI regarding this match. In these 11 players, Jaffer has selected two spinners in Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel, while Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Avesh Khan have given place to three fast bowlers. Jaffer has not given debutants like Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik in the first T20 against South Africa.
KL Rahul was appointed captain for this series in the absence of Rohit Sharma. This opener got injured before the start of the series, due to which the team’s command has been handed over to Rishabh Pant. Jaffer has picked Ruturaj Gaikwad in place of Rahul along with Ishan Kishan as the opener, while after that he has selected Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik.
Apart from Arshdeep and Umran Malik, Wasim Jaffer has also left out Deepak Hooda, Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi.
