Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane out on bail in rape case
Sandeep wreaking havoc with the ball since his return to the field
New Delhi. Nepal’s leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has seen a lot in his cricket career and life at the age of 22. Sandeep was accused of raping a minor girl in September last year. After this the board suspended him and he also had to go to jail. However, recently he got bail from the court and the cricket board also lifted the ban imposed on him.
Sandeep Lamichhane has made a bang on the field after coming out of jail. Sandeep is currently playing for Nepal in the Cricket World Cup League-2 and has troubled the batsmen of the opposition team with his spin. A day before, he bowled tremendously against Scotland in a World Cup League-2 match and took 4 wickets for 45 runs in 10 overs.
Sandeep Lamichhane played his first match for Nepal after coming out of jail on 14 February this month. In this match, he took 3 wickets for 66 runs against Namibia and gave his team a 2 wicket victory. Since then, he has played 3 more matches and has taken an average of 3 wickets in every match.
Sandeep made his debut at the age of 18
The story of Sandeep becoming a cricketer is quite interesting. He made his debut for Nepal at the age of 18. Nepal’s then cricket coach Pubud Dasanayake had an eye on Sandeep when he was 14 years old. Actually, Dasanayake was then going to Chitwan for the marriage of a bowler of the Nepal team. Meanwhile, his car broke down on the way. Where he stayed, Sandeep was seen bowling to him.
The coach saw something different in Sandeep’s bowling. Just from here the luck of this leg-spinner changed. The very next year, he was seen playing against the MCC squad that toured Nepal. From here he got a chance to play in the Hong Kong T20 League. Michael Clarke got an eye on him in this league. Sandeep Lamichhane reached Australia directly from Hong Kong and played club cricket there. After this he did not look back.
Nepal’s first cricketer to play IPL
In 2016, played the Under-19 World Cup for Nepal and took the most wickets for his country. After this, he became the first cricketer of Nepal to be sold in IPL and made ODI and T20 debut in 2018. Since then, Sandeep has been playing international cricket and has also been a part of league cricket in many countries. This leg-spinner has so far taken 82 wickets in 34 ODIs and 85 wickets in 44 T20s.
