Kamran said, Sarfaraz has performed tremendously in the middle order
They could have been signaled, you are not being ignored
New Delhi. BCCI has announced India’s ODI and Test team for West Indies tour. While Rituraj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been included in the Test team, Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav have been dropped. Ajinkya Rahane has been rewarded for his excellent batting performance in the World Test Championship and has been made the vice-captain of the Redball team again. The player whose absence in the Test team is being questioned the most is Sarfaraz Khan.
Despite scoring consecutive centuries and scoring runs in domestic cricket, Sarfaraz has not been able to win the hearts of the selectors again. Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal has questioned the absence of fast bowler Umran Malik along with Sarfaraz in the Test team.
Although Kamran praised the selector’s team for choosing a good Test team, but said, ‘There can be a debate about one or two players. After seeing the records of Sarfaraz Khan, his name is coming in my mind. He has given tremendous performance in the middle order. It was not possible to keep him in the playing XI but could definitely keep him with the team. This signal could have been given to them that you are not being ignored at all. You are a part of the team and can join the team anytime. This was the best opportunity to make him a part of the team in the West Indies.
The Pakistani wicketkeeper said, ‘Apart from this there is Umran Malik. He has pace, reverse swing. There is Duke’s ball there, you know how dry and slow the wicket is there. There reverse swing helps, so his speed should have been taken advantage of. He needs to show more authority on the field. Just like Virat Kohli. He said, ‘Indian team needs a good start. I want Rohit Sharma to do better in captaincy. He should show presence on the field in the same way Virat Kohli used to show. Significantly, the Indian team has to play a series of two Tests, three ODIs and five T20 matches against the West Indies.
India’s Test Team: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Rituraj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ajinkya Rahane (Vice-Captain), KS Bharat, Ishan Kishan, R.K. Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Akshar Patel, Mohammad Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat and Navdeep Saini.
