The year 2022 has been wonderful for Indian wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik so far. After a stellar performance in IPL 2022, this player has returned to Team India after three years. Karthik appeared in a different style in season-15. This year RCB handed him the role of finisher and Karthik lived up to the expectations of the team. Karthik scored 330 runs in IPL 2022 at a strikerate of over 183. This resulted in him getting selected in the 5-match T20I series against South Africa. Dinesh Karthik’s eyes will now be on performing for the team continuously and playing the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Meanwhile, former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has given his opinion on Dinesh Karthik’s place in the T20 WC team. Ponting says that he will be very surprised if Karthik does not get a place in the Indian team.
Talking to Isha Guha in the ICC Review, he said, “I will definitely include him and I will include him in my camp for the fifth and sixth roles. The way he finished the matches for RCB this year and took the game in a different way level. Has left more impact than the players.”
He said, “For Virat Kohli, IPL has been the same as his year, Maxi started the tournament well but Dinesh Karthik did the job of taking RCB forward on his own. Faf du Plessis also did something in it. Contributed to an extent. However, I would be very surprised if he does not make it to the Indian team.
