T20 World Cup 2022 is to be played in Australia in October-November this year. For this, which player will get a place in Team India and whose card will be cut? There is a lot of debate going on about this. Former Team India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has told whether R Ashwin will be part of the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup. Talking about the spin department, apart from Ashwin, there are good options like Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi.
Manjrekar said on Sports 18’s ‘Sports Over the Top’ show, ‘Who is his opponent in the team right now? Looking at the form at present, the selection of Yuzvendra Chahal seems certain. Then there are Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja as substitutes, who can bowl some. Deepak Hooda bowled an over in the last match and then you have Kuldeep Yadav. I think Ashwin’s selection for the T20 series against West Indies was a very good move.
Manjrekar said, “In the last few years, Ashwin has done well in the IPL. And this is how he began to leave his influence. I like Ashwin when he bowls with a bowler like Chahal. Ashwin is an expert in stopping runs and Chahal is a wicket-taking bowler. Together they will do well for Team India.
Manjrekar believes that that thing is no longer the case in the pairing of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. He said, ‘I don’t think this pair will ever be able to play for Team India anymore. Especially in the T20 format, it is difficult to get a chance for both the specialist spinners. Either Axar Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal will be seen or Ashwin and Chahal will be seen. Kuldeep and Chahal may be seen together in ODI cricket but in T20 I do not see this happening.
