Womens IPL: Teams in Women’s IPL do not have as much money as only one male player gets

It can be organized at 2 venues in Mumbai. Matches can be played from 4 to 26 March. A team can spend a maximum of Rs 12 crore to buy players. It is very less compared to men.

According to the report of Cricbuzz, the purse of a team will be Rs 12 crore. In this context, 5 teams will be able to spend Rs 60 crore. On the other hand, if we talk about men’s IPL, then the purse of a team is 95 crores. Talking about the IPL 2022 auction, 5 players got bids of more than Rs 12 crore. England all-rounder Sam Karen was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 18.5 crore. That is, the cost of a player in the men’s T20 league is more than the purse of a team in the women’s league. Mumbai Indians also included Cameron Green in their team for 17.5 crores.

Media rights sold for Rs 950 crore
Recently, BCCI sold the rights of women’s IPL for Rs 950 crore. Talking about the prize money of women’s IPL, it can be Rs 10 crore. The champion will get 6 crores while the runner up will get 3 crores. One crore can be given to the third-placed team. According to the information, the purse of the women’s team will be increased in the coming year. Rs 13.5 crore in 2024, Rs 15 crore in 2025, Rs 16.5 crore in 2026 and Rs 18 crore in 2027 will be given as purse.

Talking about the next 5 seasons of Women’s IPL, there will be 5 teams in the first 3 seasons. After this the number of teams will increase to 6 for 2026 and 2027. The rules are different in the women’s IPL as compared to the men’s. A maximum of 5 foreign players can be kept in the playing-11 of a team. There should also be one player from the associate country. On the other hand, in the men’s IPL, there is a rule to keep only 4 foreigners in the playing-11.
