Indian team announced for Women’s T20 World Cup
Harmanpreet Kaur will be the captain while Smriti Mandhana will be the vice-captain.
new Delhi. The BCCI has announced the Indian team for the Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in South Africa next year. Harmanpreet Kaur will be the captain of the 15-member team. At the same time, Smriti Mandhana has been made the vice-captain of the team. The Women’s T20 World Cup will begin on February 10 next year with a match between hosts South Africa and Sri Lanka.
Before the T20 World Cup, the Indian team will take part in a three-nation T20 series in South Africa in January next year. For this also, BCCI has announced an 18-member team. Fast bowler Pooja Vastrakar will be able to join the squad only after passing the fitness test.
Pooja Vastrakar has been kept in the T20 World Cup team. But he has to prove his fitness. If Pooja is unable to prove her fitness, then Meghna Singh can be given a chance in her place. In the Women’s T20 World Cup, the Indian team will play its first match against Pakistan in Cape Town on 12 February. Group-2 has England, West Indies, Pakistan and Ireland along with India. The top two teams of the group will qualify for the semi-finals. The final of the tournament will be played in Cape Town on 26 February.
