ICC Women’s World Cup: West Indies made a winning start to their campaign in the tournament with a thrilling three-run win over New Zealand in the opening match of the ICC Women’s World Cup. In this match, West Indies spin bowler Anisa Mohammed completed the 300th wicket of her career. With this, she has become the first woman cricketer from West Indies to take 300 wickets in women’s cricket. Anissa has become the first woman spin bowler to reach this feat. He took two wickets for 60 runs in 10 overs in the World Cup match against New Zealand.
The record for taking the most wickets in women’s cricket is still held by Indian fast bowler Jhulan Goswami. Jhulan has so far taken 345 international wickets while Anees has now reached the 300 club and has become the fourth bowler to do so. Before Anissa in women’s cricket, only three bowlers had taken 300 wickets. Apart from Jhulan and before Anissa, Katherine Brunt has 312 wickets and Ellyse Perry has 308 wickets. Anissa has now become the first woman player from West Indies to take 300 wickets.

West Indies beat New Zealand by three runs in the first match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022. Batting first, West Indies scored 259 runs for 9 wickets. In response, New Zealand’s team was all out for 256 runs. The hosts could not score six runs in the last over. 23-year-old Haley Mathews, who scored 119 runs, was adjudged the player of the match.
