World record waiting for ‘Hitman’… Martin Guptill will become the new ‘Sixer King’

Highlights

Indian team will take on Australia in the second T20 on Friday
Rohit Sharma has hit 172 sixes in 137 T20 Internationals
Team India is trailing 0-1 in the three-match T20I series.

New Delhi. Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma can set a world record in the second T20 International match of the 3-match series against Australia (IND v AUS 2nd T20). The second T20 match between hosts India and Australia will be played on Friday (23 September) at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium (VDCA) in Nagpur. Team India can level the series by winning this match.

35-year-old Rohit Sharma has hit a total of 172 sixes in 137 T20 Internationals so far. He is jointly on top with New Zealand’s explosive opener Martin Guptill in terms of hitting most sixes in T20 International cricket. Both have the same 172 sixes. In such a situation, Rohit will become the new ‘sixer king’ in cricket by overtaking Guptill as soon as he hits a six in the second T20 against Australia.

Chris Gayle at number three
Chris Gayle comes after Guptill and Rohit in terms of hitting the most sixes in this format. Gayle has hit 124 sixes in 79 T20 Internationals, while former England captain Eoin Morgan is fourth with 120 sixes while Australia captain Aaron Finch is at number five with 118 sixes.

Victory is necessary for India in any case
Talking about the match, both the remaining matches of the series for the Indian team are now like knockouts. The hosts have to win both the matches to capture the series. In the first T20 match played in Mohali, Australia defeated India by 4 wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the series. In the first T20, the Indian bowlers were ineffective in the death overs. Jasprit Bumrah may return to India’s playing XI in the second T20 match. The return of Bumrah will strengthen the Indian pace attack.
