WTC Final 2023 : Team India (India vs Australia) is seen in trouble in the final of the World Test Championship against Australia. In response to Australia’s 469 runs in this match at the Oval ground, India’s first innings score was 151 for 5 at stumps on the second day and Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja have returned to the pavilion. At the end of the game on the second day, Ajinkya Rahane was at the crease after scoring 29 runs and wicketkeeper S.Bharat. To avoid the follow-on, the team still needs 119 more runs.
On the second day of the WTC Final, the bowlers struggled and in a way gave Team India a chance to make a comeback but the batters squandered it. The Indian bowlers, led by Mohammad Siraj, performed strongly on Thursday and allowed Australia’s last 7 batsmen to add just 142 runs. At the end of the first day, the score was 327 for 3 wickets, but on the second day, shortly before the teabreak, Australia’s innings got ‘full stop’ on the score of 469.
Gill and Pujara were bowled while ‘wrong judging’ the ball
At such a time, the need for Team India was to reach close to the Australian score by batting responsibly, but the top batsmen disappointed. Captain Rohit and Gill had returned to the pavilion till the break. The team then lost the wickets of Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja. In these batters, Gill and Pujara were bowled while ‘misjudging’ the incoming ball, while Virat became the victim of Smith’s excellent overhead catch in the high bounce and slip of the ball.
Jadeja did counter attack on Australian bowlers
Ravindra Jadeja was the only batsman who gave the best answer to the Australian bowlers. While counter-attacking, he scored 48 runs in 51 balls with the help of seven fours and a six. Unfortunately, he was caught in the slip off the ball of Nathan Lyon. Commentator Harsha Bhogle praised Jadeja’s innings and called him the best batsman of the Indian innings.
Once again, Jadeja looked India’s best batter and he is now a bonafide top 6 batter. And till that finger injury, Rahane looked very smooth and in excellent touch. But the top order is a concern and has to convert good looking starts into large scores.
