New Delhi. The ‘stage’ has been prepared for the final of the World Test Championship. The teams of India and Australia (India vs Australia) will be facing each other from June 7 at the Oval ground in England. The last Test match between the two countries took place in India earlier this year, the four-Test series was won by Team India 2-1. Even though, there were ‘twelve’ of spinners in the series held in Indian ground, but due to the WTC Final being in England, the fast bowlers will be in the leading role.
Team India will definitely lack the ‘trump card’ Jasprit Bumrah in the final but the trio of Mohammed Shami, Siraj and Umesh Yadav will be able to make up for this shortcoming. Bumrah is out of cricket after back surgery. ‘Jassi’ has so far taken 128 wickets in 30 Tests at an average of 21.99. Bumrah has taken 32 wickets in 7 Tests against Australia at an average of 21.25.
If the Indian batsmen are successful in making a good score at the Oval, then this trio can trouble the Australian batsmen on a swing bowler-friendly wicket. Shami, Siraj and Umesh all three are different types of bowlers. While Shami tests the batsmen with his excellent seam position, Umesh swings the ball both ways. He also gets reverse swing from the old ball. Apart from this, Siraj troubles the batters with his bounce and ‘cross seam’ bowling.
Test performance of Shami, Siraj and Umesh
Siraj (Mohammed Siraj) has played only 18 Tests for India but with his performance in these matches, he has become the team’s need. This Hyderabad player has so far taken 47 wickets at an average of 31.29 in Test cricket. He has taken 14 wickets in 6 Tests against Australia, but if we talk about his performance on Australian ground, he has taken 13 wickets in 3 Tests at an average of 29.53. If we talk about his performance in this country due to the final of WTC being held in England, he has taken 18 wickets at an average of 33 in 5 Tests.
Shami is the most experienced among fast bowlers
Shami (Mohammed Shami) is India’s most experienced fast bowler. The UP bowler, who has taken 225 wickets in 63 Tests at an average of 27.48, has so far taken 40 wickets in 11 Tests against Australia, including 31 wickets (average 32.16) in 8 Tests in Australia. Shami has taken 34 wickets in 12 Tests in England. Right-arm fast bowler Umesh Yadav has taken 168 wickets in 56 Tests, including 51 wickets in 16 Tests against Australia at an average of 37.58. Against Australia, on his own ground, he has taken 31 wickets in 10 Tests. Umesh has played only two Tests in England and has taken 9 wickets at an average of 23.55. The biggest challenge before these three bowlers will be to send Australia’s three main batsmen – Steve Smith, Marnus Lubashan, Usman Khawaja to the pavilion soon.
