New Delhi. The Indian cricket team has faced its first defeat in the Under-19 T20 World Cup. Team India got a 7-wicket defeat at the hands of Australia in the very first match of Super Six after three consecutive wins. Team India, which came out to bat first, was reduced to just 87 runs. After this, the Kangaroo team achieved the target of victory by losing 3 wickets in 13.5 overs.

On Saturday, the Indian team had to face a crushing defeat in their first Super Six match. After winning the toss, Australia decided to bowl first and badly ruined Team India’s batting. Captain Shefali Verma, who used to attack the bowlers in the group matches, was able to score only 8 runs. Opener Shweta Sehrawat scored 21 runs while Harshita Basu and Titas Sadhu scored 14-14 runs. 8 batters could not even reach double digits. The entire team got all out for 87 runs in 18.5 overs.

Australia won the match by 7 wickets

Chasing an easy target of 88 runs, Australia got the first blow on 28 runs, Kate Pele got out after scoring 28 runs. It seemed that Team India could tighten the screws but Claire More and Amy Smith handled the innings and finished the match without losing any wickets.
