Ahmedabad. Reigning world U-20 champion Aakhalit Panghal won the gold medal in the women’s 53kg wrestling event at the National Games here on Sunday. The last of Hisar won the title with ‘Victory Boy Fall’ over Priyanshi Prajapati of Madhya Pradesh in her debut in the National Games. Her coach Vikas Bhardwaj said, “She watches videos of her rivals before any big tournament. But it is difficult to get videos of players in domestic tournaments, so I told him before the final that you should try ‘Win Boy Fall’.”
Khalifa Heena of Gujarat and Swati Sanjay of Maharashtra won bronze medals. Maharashtra’s veteran wrestler Narsingh Pancham Yadav had to settle for a bronze medal in the men’s freestyle 74kg category. The gold medal in this category was won by Yash of Delhi by defeating Sagar Jaglan of Haryana. In the men’s 86 kg category, Jointi Kumar of Uttar Pradesh won the gold medal by defeating second seed Vetal Audamb of Maharashtra.

In the women’s 57 kg category, Haryana’s Mansi won the yellow medal with a ‘boy fall’ over Chandigarh’s Neetu. Preeti Kumari of Rajasthan and Sonali Mandlik of Maharashtra won bronze medals. In Greco Roman, Army’s Gyanendra won gold in 60 kg category and Haryana’s Vikas won silver.
And in 130 kg, Satish of Haryana got the first position after army’s Naveen withdrew due to injury. Gursewak Singh of Punjab and Yantendra of Uttar Pradesh won bronze medals in this category.
