Assam had to score 28 runs in the last over. But, the tail batsman could only add 15 runs. Assam batsman Abhinav Chowdhary also hit a six on the last ball of the match. But, even six could not avoid the defeat of Assam. Assam lost the match by 12 runs and Maharashtra reached the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
