Both kept Assam in the match till the end by sharing 133 runs in 115 balls for the fifth wicket.
After the dismissal of Shivshankar in the 36th over, Assam’s hopes of winning got a little hazy. But, Swaroopam stood firm from the other end and took the team’s score beyond 300 runs. However, he was also dismissed in the 45th over. With this, the last hope of Assam’s victory also ended. Swaroopam played an inning of 95 runs in 87 balls. Assam had to score 28 runs in the last over. But, the tail batsman could only add 15 runs. Assam batsman Abhinav Chowdhary also hit a six on the last ball of the match. But, even six could not avoid the defeat of Assam. Assam lost the match by 12 runs and Maharashtra reached the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Two players of Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s IPL team Chennai Super Kings played an important role in making Maharashtra reach the finals.
