New Delhi. The Indian men’s team on Thursday crashed out of the World Table Tennis Championship in Chengdu, China after losing to China in the pre-quarterfinals. With this the Indian campaign also ended. China registered a comfortable 3-0 win over the Indian team and made it to the quarterfinals. Earlier on Wednesday, the Indian women’s team was also eliminated after losing to China Taipei in the pre-quarterfinals. Both the Indian teams could not win a single match in the pre-quarters.

In the knockout match, Manush Shah was replaced by Manav Thakkar and China fielded world number 11 Wang Chuqin opposite Manush in the third singles. Harmeet Desai started against Fan Zhendong but was defeated by the world number one Chinese player in just 15 minutes. The Chinese player won 11-2, 11-9, 11-5.

Earlier, the Indian women’s team on Wednesday suffered a 0-3 defeat to Chinese Taipei in the pre-quarterfinals, ending their campaign in the World Table Tennis Championships. All the three Indian players Manika Batra, Sreeja Akula and Diya Chitale lost their singles matches.
